Late-90s to early-2000s workhorse. Broad torque below 1,400 rpm, simple packaging, and a huge parts ecosystem. Offered as mechanical and E-TECH electronic, with both non-EGR and EGR variants across ratings from ~300–460 HP.
Transitional generation bridging E-TECH and MP series with emissions updates (EGR) and vocational-focused calibrations. Solid pull and familiar serviceability for mixed routes.
Lighter weight with responsive torque for urban routes and weight-sensitive specs: refuse, mixer, and metro delivery. Modern aftertreatment (DPF/DEF/SCR) and integrated electronics.
Heavier-duty vocational/regional with stronger top-end power and cooling capacity. Great for grades, PTO work, and sustained pulls.
