Model List, Quick Notes & Inventory
DT466 Family
The DT466 is a shop favorite for medium-duty fleets. Mechanical versions are simple and durable; later electronic
variants (“Blue” and “Black” engine eras) add diagnostics and updated electronics. Match harness/connectors and emissions
label to your chassis to keep the swap straightforward.
- 1
Fuel system: Mechanical or HEUI depending on year; confirm high-pressure oil health on HEUI units.
- 2
Fitment: Verify mounts, fan spacing, front structure, and flywheel housing pattern for a drop-in.
- 3
Cooling & CAC: Pressure-test charge air and check shroud/clutch strategy before first road test.
DT530 / DT570
Heavier vocational builds benefit from the larger DT530/DT570. Expect stronger torque and similar serviceability.
Match ECM family and emissions equipment to your truck for a clean install.
Tip: Snapshot ESN/ECM data and grab photos of tags, turbo orientation, and accessory layout for your records.
MaxxForce Family
Emissions-era platforms with modern electronics and aftertreatment. Verify DPF history, dosing health, and sensor
rationality (NOx, delta-P, temp) to avoid “ghost” derates after installation.
- 1
Electronics: Keep ECU/harness family aligned with your chassis to avoid repinning.
- 2
Aftertreatment: Document ash load, regen counts, DEF quality/dosing, and NOx sensor status.
- 3
Cooling package: Validate EGR cooler plumbing, thermostat housing orientation, and radiator capacity.
Pre-Buy Checklist (Used / Reman / Surplus)
- 1
ESN / ECM readout: Rating, hours/miles, active/inactive faults, and emissions label.
- 2
Turbo / CAC: Endplay & spin checks; pressure-test charge air before first start.
- 3
Oil/fuel analysis: Screen for coolant intrusion, fuel dilution, silicon, and wear metals.
- 4
Fitment: Confirm mounts, accessory brackets, fan hub spacing, and SAE flywheel housing size.
- 5
Documentation & photos: Tag images, ECM screens, and plumbing orientation save time later.
